2024 Year In Review

It’s time for Today’s Writing Woman 2024 Year in Review. It’s hard to believe that another year is gone, and it’s time to reflect on the past 365 days. Where shall I begin? My head is spinning.

First Part of 2024

2024 has been quite the year for me and my family.  We settled into our home, and things were pretty quiet for the first part of the year. That is until I found a water leak in the Mechanical Room in the basement. We thought it was a broken hose from the washer. It turns out it was a leak in the water line, which turned into a colossal plumbing replacement project inside and outside the house. So, June was spent with our kitchen, mechanical room, garage, driveway, and the road in front of our house torn up. Oh, the joys of home ownership!

Tornado Season

We barely finished the plumbing repairs, and then Tornado Season came rolling into our area. On July 31st, we found ourselves in a storm we had not seen before. We experienced 90mph winds, with rain coming through the area sideways. It left our entire city without electricity and wiped out more trees than you could count. The damage was devastating. Our Ash Tree in the backyard, slated to come down the first part of August, lost half of its limbs and broke a part of our neighbor’s fence. Needless to say, we were without power for three days during the hottest time of the year. We had to buy ice to save the food in our refrigerators/freezers.

After that, things seemed to settle down. We planted two new trees and decorated the outside of our home for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I look forward to more time writing, reading, and working in my sewing room.

As I wrap up the year, I wish you and yours a healthy New Year!
