Moments of Inspiration When I Least Expect It

Tomorrow, I will begin my fourth week of furlough, and I am finding moments of inspiration when I least expect it. Walking through the maze that seems to be my “new normal”, I recognize these moments every time I get distracted with something different I want to do. Instead of completing my original task at hand, I find something new and exciting to dive into; therefore, creating a new moment. Hours later, when I finally realize what I have done, I turn course again and get back to my original project. It is hard to stay focused, but I must if I want to get through everything I want to accomplish during this time off.

Moments of Inspiration

Everyone I know has some sort of “to do” list, and I am no exception. Since I have all this free time, I have been working on all those little projects that I put on the back burner for the longest time. Towards the top of that list, was going through the huge stack of magazines that I never have time to read.

While it only took me to the end of my third week off, I have finally been reading them and finding moments of inspiration that I wasn’t expecting. (Big distraction: reading has lead to writing and resurrecting this website. Yay!) Within those magazine pages I have found little kernals of wisdom that I just need to share. Below is one of those:

Any time women come together with a collective intention, it’s a powerful thing. Whether it’s sitting down making a quilt, in a kitchen preparing a meal, in a club reading the same book, around the table playing cards, or planning a birthday party, when women come together with a collective intention, magic happens. – Phylicia Rashad

Magic Happens

I have only been gone from my work for three weeks, but this shelter-in-place situation we have been living under since March makes me realize how much I have missed those moments of interacting with others.  I have my husband, and we are truly two homebodies at heart, but even I enjoy visiting, talking and yes, hugging my close group of friends. There is something truly magical about it.

I think I might try baking a pie…

In the meantime, I am going to continue on with the routine I have created for myself. Walking in the morning, breakfast, and then tackling something on that “To Do” list, all the while looking for those moments of inspiration and letting the magic happen while at home.

Wishing you moments to find inspiration in the least expected places!
