The signs of a great vacation are different for everyone. For me, they are quite simple. My list is below. Depending on what you like to do, yours could be completely different or similar to mine. No matter what, vacations are important because they give us an opportunity to recharge and reset.
My Personal Signs of a Great Vacation
- You’re completely exhausted, and you knew this in advanced so you planned extra days at the end of your trip to come home, completely relax and slowly get back into the swing of things.
- You’ve lost the weight you gained while on vacation in just a couple of days.
- You wake up early every day on those extra days DESPITE the fact that you really wanted to sleep in.
- You go through the great photos you took and start dreaming about your next great vacation.
The good news? In another six months or so, you can take another vacation. And if you’re like me, twice a year is the perfect amount of time in between holidays, especially when you accrue about a day every pay period.
Weekend Getaways
For those that don’t want to wait for the bi-annual getaway, why not think of every weekend as a mini holiday? When 5:00pm rolls around every Friday, you have 48 hours to do whatever you want. Go for a drive to visit a town you always wanted to see. Or, how about finding a B&B to stay for couple of nights to get away from it all. You could even just go to a local festival or event that you’ve never been to before.
Make Your Weekends Your Own
The point is, if you really need to take a vacation, you have a weekly opportunity to do something other than work and chores. If you plan wisely during the week, you can get everything you need to get done so that your weekends are your own.
