Sunday Morning Musings

Sunday morning…and the thermometer in my car is registering 40 degrees.  If you’re not used to it, this temperature can make you feel really chilled to the bone, but for others, it can seem like a heatwave. As odd at it sounds, I am cold but not freezing. The sun hasn’t risen yet, but it is starting to get light. Dew has settled on my car as I quickly get in and turn the key in the ignition. As I drive to my destination, I wonder what the day will bring.

Laundry Family

Sunday mornings herald my obligatory bi-weekly (or sometimes every three week) trip to the laundromat. Having over slept, I was getting a late start. In my younger days, I used to care about getting up and getting the show on the road early, but now I find that sleep is a little more important. Nevertheless, I made it to my destination before noon so I was happy.

Upon arrival, I am greeted by my laundromat family and immediately comforted. Yes, I considered this group my family. They have been that way for 20 years. Many have come and gone but I do feel like they are family, and I will miss them. Why? Because, my time here in this area is coming to a close.

The Future

Each day that I wake up in my home, I know that it is one less day that I will be living here, and one day closer to moving on to our next adventure. It is funny how little we think about time until something big happens in your life and you stop and really reflect on the changes that are about to happen. I tend to be more reflective on Sunday morning.

I am excited about the things to come, but we have just a little bit more work here to do. First and foremost, I have to get my health in order. I am close, but need to see a specialist to fix one more thing. It’s kind of big, but hopefully it will be easy. I am facing a possible surgery, which scares me to death, but I have been reassured that it is easy. My sister-in-law had it done so I pray that it will be just as easy for me.

In the meantime, on this Sunday morning, I will continue to purge my stuff to get rid of what I don’t want to move. Vacation is soon and I will enjoy a new destination that we haven’t been to in 15 years – Florida! Finally, I will prep myself for the visit to the specialist to begin what I hope will be a simple fix to a long term issue.

More to coming…
